Marie has gained broad insight into Norwegian security policy through both professional experiences and academic work, in Norway and internationally.

Before joining Holtan + Partners, she conducted a research project for the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) at the Division of Total Defence, examining the security implications of recent developments in the financial system in the context of growing strategic competition.

From 2024 to 2025, Marie worked as an intern at the Norwegian Embassy in Washington, D.C. During this time, she served as a member of the Embassy's political team, with security policy as her primary focus, reporting to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She supported the Office of the Defence Attaché in strengthening Norwegian American security cooperation and worked with the Norwegian American Defence Industry Council (NADIC) to promote the Norwegian defence industry in the US.

Marie holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies from the University of Oslo, where she specialized in security policy with a focus on transatlantic relations, NATO operations, and the geopolitics of the Arctic. She also completed an exchange semester at Sciences Po and attended several summer school programs in France.

Marie gained political experience serving as a deputy representative at one of Oslo’s municipalities for four years until 2023. She also has experience as head of communication at the Young Ambassadors Program, a nonpartisan organisation dedicated to leadership development for Norwegian youth.
